The Rugby League International Federation have officially confirmed the draw for the 2017 Student Rugby League World Cup in Australia.

The ten-day long tournament is being staged in the Parramatta and Penrith areas of Sydney, with the final being held at Pepper Stadium, the home of Penrith Panthers, on Sunday 16 July.

The competition will feature six countries drawn in two pools of three using rankings based on how they finished in the 2013 World Cup in England.

To keep the regular format of three group games, teams will play each of the teams in their pool and one cross-pool game against the side with a similar ranking.

Wales will open the tournament, taking on Scotland at Ringrose Park in Wentworthville while England face Australia in the third and final game of the opening day.

The Welsh side will also take on England and New Zealand while England’s other game is a clash with Scotland.

Ireland have a tough looking assignment as they face both Australia and New Zealand as well as taking on the Scots in the middle round of the three to be played.

Defending champions Australia have won five of the eight tournaments played, with New Zealand successful in the other three.
