The 2016 season will be Scottish international McClean’s fourth with the All Golds having joined in 2013. But for a broken collarbone that caused him to miss much of the club’s debut season, he would already have passed the 50 appearance mark.
McClean started his rugby career playing union for his local side Pewsey RFC. He started playing league during his final year at the University of Bath before joining the University of Gloucestershire on a rugby league scholarship. In the year he played for the University league side they were crowned national champions.
Highly regarded at the club as a vital member of the matchday 17 bringing impact to the front row McClean made his international debut in Scotland’s European Championship winning side in 2014 and he was a late call up by coach Steve McCormack in their defence of the title last Autumn.
